Party Like A Pirate

While this too falls out of the scope of our normal posting, I feel like it is a worthy post. Can't limit this awesomeness to Facebook pictures. This past weekend was the annual Gasparilla event in Downtown Tampa. Never heard of Gasparilla? What a shame, let me explain. It started off as a festival celebrating the city's swashbuckling past; it has involved into the event that we know today to include, an invasion (where pirates arrive via the bay on pirate ships), a parade of Mardi Gras sorts, and day drinking abound. If you ever wanted to experience raging by masses of people (all ages) in the middle of the day, dressed as pirates, this is the place to do it. This weekend was my first experience of Gasparilla and I think it's safe to say, it won't be the last. The entertainment of watching drunk shenanigans and competing to catch the most beads makes for a blast of a day.
